There are many different themes available for NetBeans IDE. ![]() Click the OK button to apply the changes. In the Options window, go to the Appearance category and select the theme from the drop-down list. For example, if you’re using Windows, the default installation directory is “C:\Program Files\NetBeans 7.4\themes.” Once you’ve copied the theme to the proper directory, you can activate it by going to the Tools menu and selecting Options. Themes are typically stored in the “themes” directory. Another way to install a theme is to download it from a website and then copy it to the NetBeans installation directory. Select the theme you want to install and click the Install button. In the Plugins window, go to the Available Plugins tab and search for “themes.” You should see a list of available themes. To do this, go to the Tools menu and select Plugins. The easiest way is to use the NetBeans Plugin Portal. There are a few different ways to install a theme in NetBeans. A theme is a collection of graphics and colors that you can apply to the IDE to give it a unique appearance. Support for the two dark LaFs is too new and as such could not make it to NetBeans 7.3 release schedule, but will be added to NetBeans 7.3.1. It has been possible to choose a dark editor color style, but such choice would not be reflected outside editor window - the workspace would thus suffer from the strong contrast between the dark editor panel and the bright background of the rest of the workspace. However, under some circumstances, e.g., in low-light conditions a darker workspace coloring may be beneficial or at least perceived as easier on the eyes.įor those users preferring dark workspaces there were only insufficient options available so far.
